Samaritan Counseling

Office Hours by appointment only – Mon – Fri  (901) 729-3900

We Welcome New Clients

We affirm the needs of the whole person–body, mind and spirit. Inherent to this philosophy is a respect for the individuality of each client’s faith and values. Here you will find an introduction to the Samaritan Counseling Centers and learn more about what to expect from your first visit with us.

What to Expect for your First Session

You will meet with your therapist in a private, comfortable, confidential office. Your areas of concern will be identified and initial therapy goals will be developed. Preferred frequency of visits (weekly, bi-weekly, etc.) will also be established. At your option sessions may be be held via Telehealth through a secure confidential and HIPPA compliant internet connection. Sessions are approximately 45-60 minutes long. During this time, your therapist will discuss your concerns and issues in a supportive, non-judgmental manner and guide you toward developing your own solutions.

Making Your Appointment

To make an appointment at any location, call 901-729-3900. The Clinical Lead will take your information (telephone intake takes approximately 5-10 minutes). If you would like to see a specific therapist, be sure to mention them by name when you call. Once we gather your information, the Clinical Lead will assign you to one of our therapists, who will contact you directly to set up your first appointment.

All scheduling is done through the therapists, as they keep their own schedules. If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please notify your therapist 24 hours in advance.  To request an appointment call 901-729-3900 (8:00 am to 4:30 pm)

Fees

The therapy fee agreement will be completed at the first appointment and will state your fee and payment requirements. We request payment at the time of your therapy appointment. You may pay by cash, check, or Visa, MasterCard and/or FSA/MSA. For those without insurance coverage, or who have insufficient financial resources to afford the standard fee may inquire about the Client Assistance Fund. The Fund is designed to help people get the counseling they need. One’s ability to pay does not preclude our services. The fees are determined according to total gross annual household income and household size. The ability of the center to provide a fee subsidy is contingent upon the availability of funds. At this time we do not offer “no-charge / free” therapy.

Insurance and other 3rd party payers

If you have insurance or some other third-party coverage (e.g., a managed care organization or employee assistance program) that pays for therapy, we request that you provide this information on the Insurance Information section of the intake form.

Each of our therapists are on a variety of insurance plans. The Center does not guarantee that your insurance or other coverage will pay your claim. You are responsible for any account balance not paid by insurance. You will be responsible to pay deductibles/co-payments/coinsurance required by the insurance or third-party company.
